Iranian Foreign Minister: It is necessary to understand what the United States really thinks at the negotiating meeting

On April 16, local time, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghzi said that his visit to Russia was to convey the message of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the Russian president. He noted that in the negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear issue, Iran must understand what the United States really thinks, and if the United States puts forward a constructive position, Iran hopes to start "negotiations on a possible framework for an agreement", but if this is not the case, "we will continue to face the problem of contradictory positions and conflicts." He said that negotiations could only take place in an atmosphere of equality and mutual respect, and that imposing positions would lead to nothing. Iran will calmly participate in the negotiations, unaffected by any pressure. Indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States were held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on the 12th. This is the first formal negotiation between the United States and Iran since May 2018, when Trump unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal during his first term. According to reports, the two sides plan to hold a second round of talks in Rome, Italy, on the 19th.
