SEC Delays Decision on XRP ETF Again, Adds New Crypto Fund to Review

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has once again postponed its decision regarding WisdomTree’s proposed XRP ETF. The ruling, originally expected in August, has now been pushed back to October 24, leaving the market waiting several more weeks for clarity.

XRP ETF in Focus as Market Waits for October This delay affects all pending spot XRP ETF applications – except for Franklin Templeton, whose third review is scheduled for September, with a potential final decision in November. 📌 Key Dates:

🔹 October 18 – Decision on Grayscale’s application

🔹 October 24 – Decision on WisdomTree’s application

🔹 November – Expected final ruling on Franklin Templeton’s filing According to Bloomberg analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart, the probability of XRP ETF approval in 2025 is as high as 95%. The SEC could also approve multiple applications at once, similar to its approach with Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs earlier this year.

Market Reaction and Fed’s Role The postponement came just after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the Jackson Hole symposium, where he hinted at a possible rate cut in September. This briefly boosted risk assets, including cryptocurrencies. XRP spiked to $3.10, later fell to $2.92, and rebounded to $2.96 on Monday.

Canary Capital Introduces “American-Made” Crypto ETF The SEC is also reviewing other altcoin ETF applications. U.S.-based Canary Capital Group has proposed launching the Canary American-Made Crypto ETF (MRCA). The fund’s index will only include cryptocurrencies that:

🔹 were created or are primarily operated in the U.S.

🔹 are eligible for custody with a regulated U.S. trust or bank

🔹 maintain sufficient liquidity

🔹 are traded across multiple recognized exchanges Stablecoins, pegged tokens, and memecoins are excluded from the index.
