The team stated that this is a new consensus protocol that can reduce the consensus time on Sui by 80% to 390 milliseconds, making it the fastest consensus layer in the industry. Mysticeti was developed based on in-depth research on the Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus mechanism, representing the progress of Narwhal-Bullshark. Sui has introduced the consensus algorithm in its Mainnet.
