Ukrainian Prime Minister: The U.S.-Ukraine mineral agreement will not affect the goal of joining the EU.

On April 10, Jin10 data reported that Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal stated that any mineral agreement reached with the United States will not undermine Ukraine's desire to join the European Union. "This is the first red line we convey to all partners," Shmyhal said. He also mentioned that Ukraine will send a special technical working group to Washington "no later than tomorrow" to negotiate an agreement regarding the post-war extraction of the country's mineral resources and the reconstruction of infrastructure. Kyiv hopes to gain greater U.S. investment in any agreement, as there are concerns that granting Washington significant privileges could complicate its efforts to join the EU.
