📍U.S. drafts United Nations resolution on the Strait of Hormuz

📌The U.S., along with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, is pushing a new draft at the United Nations Security Council regarding the Strait of Hormuz. It includes a very important adjustment: replacing the mention of a ceasefire achieved through Pakistan with support for the IMO (International Maritime Organization).
📌The U.S. does not want Pakistan to act as an intermediary, favoring a new intermediary aligned with the U.S. Instead, the resolution has modified the wording from "impose force" to avoid vetoes by Russia and China, but still within the framework of Chapter VII — meaning sanctions or coercive measures can still be applied if Iran does not comply.
📌The IMO does not control the Strait of Hormuz, but has the legal-technical foundation to turn Hormuz into an issue for the entire global trade system.
