Is the short drama sector starting to play with on-chain tokenization too? Recently, I noticed the official launch of a project called IPFlow, which focuses on bringing short drama IPs on-chain and tokenizing them as assets.

Their approach is quite interesting: users can mine tokens by watching short dramas, with traffic data recorded directly on-chain, and they can participate in dividend sharing later on. Reportedly, there’s backing from a Hong Kong-listed company holding copyrights to over 2,000 short dramas.

The project is positioned as a multi-chain platform, aiming to combine high-traffic short drama content with a token economy. This “consume content, mine tokens” model is trying to find an entry point between the traditional entertainment industry and Web3. The short drama market does have a lot of traffic, so it remains to be seen if the on-chain mechanism can truly work.

You can mine while watching short dramas? I know this trick—it's another wave of the classic "earn while you X" gimmick.

You can mine just by watching short dramas? I know this trick—it's that same old "consume to mine" model. They really treat traffic as a gold mine. The part about data being put on-chain and sharing dividends sounds nice, but I'm worried it's just another new way to fleece retail investors. Having 2,000 copyrighted resources is something, but the key is still how the tokenomics are designed. Otherwise, it's no different from any ordinary project. Short dramas definitely attract capital, but whether the blockchain can really handle such a huge volume of traffic is still a question mark. Having a Hong Kong-listed company backing it is pretty good—definitely better than a pure vaporware project. Still, I'll wait and see before getting involved. Yet another consumer sector is moving toward Web3. This time it's short dramas, what will it be next? To be honest, I'm always a bit skeptical about these "watch dramas to mine" promises. There have been too many lessons from the past.
