On-chain ransom negotiations show that the ShibaSwap Hacker does not accept a low ransom.
Golden Finance reported that last Friday, $2.8 million worth of crypto tokens (mostly dog-related) were stolen from ShibaSwap, including approximately 250 billion KNINE tokens from the liquid staking protocol K9 Finance. K9 hopes to redeem these tokens and is willing to pay a bounty to the Hacker. Last Monday, an address marked as “k9dev.eth” contacted its “dear Shibarium Bridge Hacker” on the chain, offering a bounty of 5 Ethereum in exchange for the stolen KNINE Token. The K9 team's move may be because they are very eager to avoid hackers dumping such a large amount of KNINE Tokens, as this could likely cause its price to drop to nearly zero. The information also includes a bounty contract address to facilitate transactions and warns that “the bounty will start decreasing in seven days,” thereby applying pressure. However, the Hacker did not accept such a low offer, replying: “I cannot accept 5 Ethereum.” The Hacker then proposed that the ransom must not be lower than 50 ETH (approximately $225,000), adding: “Please let me know when you are willing to pay this price.”
