The community account Pi Network Alerts stated that this move aims to familiarize early participants with stablecoin operations under zero-risk conditions, laying a solid foundation for subsequent mainnet integration.

Currently, the Pi testnet wallet can perform transfers, receipts, asset exchanges, and liquidity pool interactions using a simulated version of USDT, with an interface highly similar to mainstream decentralized finance applications.
