Coinbase (COIN) Collaborates with Chainlink to Publicly Post On-Chain Trading Data…… Changing DeFi "Price Credibility" Landscape
As Coinbase (COIN) partners with Chainlink to publish its advanced trading data on the blockchain, the price formation and risk management systems in the DeFi market are expected to become more sophisticated. Since core data from centralized exchanges flows directly into the blockchain ecosystem, this move is seen as a signal of transitioning toward “on-chain financial infrastructure.”
On the 25th local time, Coinbase (COIN) announced that through integration with Chainlink, it has begun publishing its advanced exchange data to an on-chain environment based on DataLink. This allows order books, spot prices, perpetual futures, e-mini futures, and various asset class datasets to be available in real-time to DeFi protocols.
These data go beyond simple price references and will serve as the “core infrastructure” for DeFi platforms. Protocols can use this to achieve more accurate pricing, risk management, derivatives design, and build new on-chain markets. It is especially expected to alleviate current issues in DeFi such as price distortions and liquidity disruptions.
This integration is based on Chainlink’s oracle network and the cross-chain interoperability protocol (CCIP). Chainlink is a leading project in securely transmitting external data to blockchains and has advantages in ensuring the reliability of financial data. The industry is paying close attention to whether this collaboration could become the “standard model” connecting centralized exchange data with decentralized finance.
Coinbase (COIN) has previously been actively expanding on-chain strategies, including building a bridge between Base and Solana, and adopting CCIP in its wrapped assets. The public release of data is seen as an extension of this trend, representing an attempt to expand centralized exchange data assets into the blockchain ecosystem.
Market experts comment that bringing exchange data on-chain can enhance the credibility of the DeFi market and encourage institutional investor participation. A blockchain analyst stated, “Accurate real-time data is key to solving DeFi’s biggest weakness—price reliability. Coinbase and Chainlink’s collaboration could lead to a structural transformation of the digital asset market.”
Comment: Coinbase’s open data initiative goes beyond mere technological integration; it symbolizes a significant step toward breaking down the boundaries between centralized and decentralized finance. If more exchanges adopt similar models in the future, DeFi is likely to evolve into a more mature financial ecosystem.
