Golden Finance reported that on January 14th local time, U.S. President-elect Trump requested the Federal Court of Appeals to review his defamation case against writer Carroll, attempting to overturn the jury’s previous verdict. Previously, the jury ruled that Trump had defamed writer Carroll after sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s and ordered Trump to pay Carroll a compensation of 5 million U.S. dollars. Trump’s lawyers have requested a full panel of judges from the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to hear this case, stating that there were errors in the court’s acceptance of relevant evidence during the trial, which could have adverse effects on future cases. If this request is not approved, Trump may further seek review by the Supreme Court.
