Human rights organizations say Israel attacked military targets along the Syrian coast.

On December 16, Jinshi Data reported that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) stated that Israel attacked a military base in the coastal Tartus region of Syria, calling it the "most intense attack" on the region in more than a decade. The organization stated that "Israeli warplanes launched strikes" targeting a series of locations, including the air defense forces and "ground-to-ground missile depots". Footage on social media showed a massive explosion.
