Base will accelerate the main network by 10 times with the help of Flashblocks

The L2 network Base has implemented the Flashblocks technology in the testnet, reducing the block creation time from 2 seconds to 200 milliseconds. The project team shared this information at the ETHDenver 2025 conference.

The mainnet upgrade is expected in the second quarter of 2025.

Flashblocks increases transaction processing speed by streaming pre-confirmed blocks every 200 milliseconds. This reduces the risk of transaction cancellations.

The technology was developed in collaboration with Flashbots, known for its solutions for Ethereum and MEV work. Earlier, Flashblocks applied DEX Uniswap, reducing the block time on the Unichain network to 0.25 seconds.

Along with this, the Base team introduced two more tools: Appchains and Smart Wallet Sub Accounts

Appchains are custom blockchains built on top of the L2 Base based on the OP Stack. They operate as third-layer networks (L3) and provide dedicated block space for application scalability

Appchains support customization, including custom gas tokens and fee logic, and are oriented towards high-load applications.

Smart Wallet Sub Accounts allow users to manage multiple wallets through a single interface.

To remind, in January the AI platform Venice AI by Eric Voorhees released the VVV token based on Base.
