PANews News on January 23, according to Cointelegraph, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Center announced that it will launch a series of projects on central bank digital money (CBDC) and tokenization in 2024. The projects will explore areas such as cybersecurity, combating financial crime, CBDC and green finance. The BIS Innovation Center will enter the second phase of its central bank Digital Money privacy test and launch a Blockchain-based Token project. Among them, the Promissa project is a collaboration between BIS, the Swiss National Bank and the World Bank to build a proof-of-concept platform for digital commitment notes. Currently, the majority of committed notes are still in paper form, and BIS hopes to complete this proof of concept by early 2025. At the same time, the Aurum project, a collaboration between BIS and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), will enter a new phase of research into privacy protection in retail payments. In 2022, HKMA completed the wholesale interbank system, e-Wallet and retail CBDC prototypes of the Aurum project. BIS will also continue its work on cross-border payment compliance automation (Project Mandala), monitoring asset-backed Stable Coin balance sheets (Project Pyxtrail), and multi-CBDC platform experimentation (Project Cambridge).
