According to the latest report from market research firm Omdia, the utilization rate of large-size display panel factories is expected to increase to nearly 90% in the third quarter of 2024, as demand growth eventually surpasses capacity expansion, and will maintain a healthy development trend in the coming years. "In 2023, the weighted average size of LCD TVs increased by an incredible 2.9 inches. It is expected that starting from 2024, the size of LCD TVs will increase by another 1.6 inches, and by 2025, it will increase by another 1.1 inches. The larger panels, combined with a 7% recovery in unit demand, will support an average factory utilization rate of over 82% in 2024. Based on supply and demand analysis and utilization rate modeling, the utilization rate is expected to gradually increase each year and reach close to 89% by 2026," commented Charles Annis, Director of Display Research at Omdia.
