Swiss regulators have filed criminal complaints related to tokens for FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets.
PANews, October 17 - According to Bloomberg, the Swiss gambling regulator Gespa has filed a criminal complaint with the authorities, accusing FIFA's “FIFA Collect” platform of providing unauthorized gambling services by selling blockchain tokens linked to World Cup tickets (including “Right to Buy” and “Right to Final”). Gespa stated that the related products partially fall under lottery and partially under sports betting, and initiated a preliminary investigation into the platform earlier this month. The platform allows token holders to have priority in purchasing tickets or trading on the Secondary Market, and FIFA has not yet responded. Gespa indicated that it is legally required to notify the competent authorities upon becoming aware of any violations.
