BlackRock launches Bitcoin Spot ETP on the London exchange.
On October 20, following the easing of restrictions on Crypto Assets investment vehicles by UK regulators, BlackRock has officially launched an exchange-traded product (ETP) linked to Bitcoin in the UK. According to the asset management company's official website, the iShares Bitcoin ETP was listed on the London Stock Exchange on Monday. According to The Sunday Times, the product is designed as a Bitcoin-linked security, allowing investors to purchase Bitcoin shares at approximately $11 each. The ETP tracks the Bitcoin market price within a regulated framework, enabling UK investors to participate in Bitcoin investments through traditional brokerage accounts rather than Crypto Assets exchanges. BlackRock stated that this product provides retail investors with a channel to participate in the Bitcoin market under the UK's securities regulatory framework. According to SoSoValue data, this product is consistent with similar structured products in the US and the market—BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin ETF has currently amassed over $85 billion in net assets in the US.
