According to the press daemon of the Privolzhsky Transport Prosecutor’s Office, in 2022, an employee of the Ufa Transport Police Department detained two individuals. He took their mobile phones and, using the installed crypto applications, transferred bitcoins to himself for an amount exceeding 20 million rubles.

The former operative is also accused of using force against detainees to obtain confessions and information about accomplices. He is charged under paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft), part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud) and paragraphs “a”, “v” of part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of office).

Earlier in Karachay-Cherkessia, the head of the drug trafficking control department was accused of cryptocurrency extortion.
