Polygon Gigagas!
Setting the Standard for High-Throughput DeFi & Payments
@0xpolygon has unveiled its Gigagas Roadmap, a multi-stage strategy to scale Polygon PoS and related infrastructure toward 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) by 2026.
The first major milestone, the Bhilai upgrade, slated for July 2025, aims to deliver ~1,000 TPS, reduce transaction finality to ~5 seconds, and stabilize gas fees, dramatically improving user experience for payments and stablecoin flows.
Subsequent phases target 5,000+ TPS by October 2025, integration of the AggLayer for cross-chain liquidity, and one-second finality with no chain reorganizations.
Polygon is also rebranding its native token from $MATIC to $POL, emphasizing enhanced utility in governance, staking, and cross-chain operations.
These shifts aim to strengthen Polygon’s position as the infrastructure backbone for real-world assets (RWAs), institutional payments, and scalable dApps
