Don't remind me again today

Interesting fiscal divergence over the past 14 years.

Back in 2010, France's government debt sat at 85% of GDP while Germany wasn't far behind at 82%. Fast forward to 2024? France has climbed to 114%, but Germany actually dropped to 64%.

Two different paths, two wildly different outcomes. One expanded, the other tightened the belt.

The debt rate in France is really outrageous... 114%? How has Germany managed to stabilize it and even bring it down to 64%? We really need to take a good look at how they do it.

France really can't figure out what it means to "tighten their belts"... Germany's methods are truly impressive.

Germany’s recent moves are truly impressive—they tightened their belts for 14 years and managed to slash their debt by nearly half... Meanwhile, France seems to be playing a game of “debt escalation,” soaring from 85 to 114. The gap is getting more and more ridiculous.

Germany's approach this time is truly remarkable. While France is still spending recklessly, they've already started tightening their belts. Being able to close such a large gap in 2014 shows that discipline really determines everything.

Germany's tightening measures are really impressive, going from 82% down to 64%... Meanwhile, in France, the debt is rising sharply, and the gap is getting larger.
