Ethereum accelerates upgrade pace: Hegota and Glamsterdam dual upgrade plans revealed

【CryptoWorld】The Ethereum development team has been very active recently. It is reported that the community has already named the two major upgrades scheduled for this year—“Glamsterdam” in the first half and “Hegota” in the second half, with the timeline tentatively set for 2026.

The development pace is clearly accelerating. Previously, there were complaints about Ethereum’s slow updates, and the increased frequency of these upgrades can be seen as a direct response to those concerns.

So what are these two upgrades about? The details of Hegota are not yet fully finalized; at least, a final decision won’t be made until February. However, based on early discussions, the core goal is focused on implementing Verkle trees—simply put, to lower the hardware requirements for running nodes, allowing more people to participate in the network and further enhance decentralization. This is a promising direction for the ecosystem.

Are we really waiting until 2026? How long do I have to wait? Can I still hold on to my coins? Haha

Will it only be implemented in 2026? Can we wait that long? Haha

verkle trees finally getting serious attention? ngl took long enough. technically speaking, this is actually the move—vector commitments as a cryptographic primitive are elegant but the implementation details matter way more than the hype. people obsessing over names while missing the real protocol changes, classic.

Finally no longer snail-paced. Whether 2026 can truly be realized depends on . --- I'm a bit skeptical about the Verkle tree; it's another attempt to lower hardware barriers. How many years have I heard this? --- The name is well-chosen, but it has to be truly useful. --- Wait, Hegota isn't finalized until February? That adds some uncertainty. --- Lowering participation barriers is good, but I'm worried it might just be an upgraded PPT. --- The Ethereum ecosystem now relies on these updates to survive, I dare not speak ill. --- Oh, this pace is faster than before, so I guess I should start holding coins and wait.

Finally accelerating, it’s no wonder you said updates were slow before. If this Verkle tree can truly lower the node threshold, retail investors will have a chance. The upgrade names are really outrageous, what the hell is Glamsterdam? See you in February for the answer, let’s just enjoy the pie for now. Another year of "revolution," what can it change?

Are Hegota and Glamsterdam serious names? It feels like the community has started to slack off on naming upgrades haha Wait, can Verkle trees really lower hardware barriers? I feel like it's another thing that sounds impressive but is far from practical implementation… Only happening in 2026, this pace isn't exactly fast, still feels the same as before Finally accelerating, not easy, we've been complaining about this for so long If these two upgrades can actually go live, Ethereum still has potential, but then again, Vitalik changed his mind again, didn't he?
