Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital, recently raised a pointed question about whether second-generation cryptocurrencies like XRP and Cardano can adapt to this new paradigm—or if their community loyalty masks fundamental weaknesses.

The question Novogratz poses isn’t whether these projects have supporters—it’s whether supporters alone can sustain relevance as alternatives multiply.
XRP faces similar scrutiny. Originally designed to facilitate cross-border payments through RippleNet partnerships, the token’s utility case seems compelling theoretically. Yet skeptics consistently point to a gap between its $2.08 price and the actual settlement activity on its network.
