Christopher Couch bought 5,000 Bitcoins after discovering cryptocurrencies during his research and studies in cryptography.
At the time of purchase, he didn't expect much; it was just a purchase based on his research.
He was just someone who loved buying random tech gadgets he never used, even though his girlfriend thought it was a waste of money.
After the purchase, he completely forgot about it, and years passed.
In 2013, Bitcoin started appearing in the news with its prices soaring.
Then he suddenly remembered the purchase and thought, "Didn't I buy something like this?"
He searched through old files, tried to recall his wallet password, and managed to log in.
That forgotten $27 is now worth $886,000 (2013), with a large portion sold and used to buy a luxury apartment in Oslo.
If he had held onto all 5,000 Bitcoins until today, they would be worth about $438 million.
