Tech Home, February 1 — Apple has recently updated its online store, introducing a new ordering process for the entire Mac lineup, including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro.

According to Tech Home, previously each Mac model offered several standard configurations to choose from, but now users must customize each device from scratch item by item. In other words, the new Mac ordering process is now very similar to that of ordering an iPad.

Taking the MacBook Pro ordering page as an example, users first select the 14-inch or 16-inch display size and chassis color. They can then upgrade to a nano-texture display. Next, they choose from available M-series chip options and core counts supported by the selected model. Finally, they customize memory capacity, SSD storage, select a power adapter, and choose the keyboard language version.

Previously, the platform offered multiple pre-configured models, allowing users to upgrade certain hardware specifications after selection. Now, the process is entirely on-demand customization.
