According to Mars Finance, on March 5th, Decrypt reported that Morgan Stanley, in a revised S-1 registration statement filed on Wednesday, stated that its planned Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust will include Bitcoin custody services, with custodians including Bank of New York Mellon and Coinbase Custody Trust Company. This arrangement is similar to existing Bitcoin ETFs, such as the iShares Bitcoin Trust under BlackRock. IBIT initially relied solely on Coinbase for Bitcoin custody but added Anchorage Digital as a second custodian in April 2025. BlackRock’s Bitcoin fund also uses Bank of New York Mellon as its cash custodian and administrative agent. This Wall Street giant first filed its spot Bitcoin ETF S-1 registration documents as early as January. It has also applied to register ETFs for Ethereum and Solana. At that time, the company did not disclose which custodian it planned to choose for its Bitcoin fund.
