(MENAFN) UN relief chief Tom Fletcher said on Saturday that humanitarian teams are ready to respond quickly to the impacts of ongoing military strikes in the Middle East.

Speaking on X, Fletcher emphasized that civilians must be protected and highlighted that aid teams are closely monitoring the situation across the region to provide swift assistance.

The remarks come as the US and Israel launched a major operation against Iran on Saturday, aiming to weaken Tehran’s military capabilities, while Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and US facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.
