Spanish police dismantle illegal Bitcoin mining farm, electricity theft worth over €860,000

Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 5th, reports that Catalonia police in Spain recently dismantled an illegal Bitcoin mining farm in the industrial area of Sant Vicenç de Castellet, Barcelona. According to the national power company Endesa, the farm illegally accessed electricity by directly connecting to the high-voltage grid, with an estimated value of up to €860,643, making it the largest electricity theft case in the region’s industrial sector in nearly a year.

During a raid on February 26th, police seized 88 Bitcoin mining devices. Investigations revealed that the farm had been operating illegally since October 2025. It lacked electricity meters and protection systems, and its dangerous three-phase connection posed serious fire hazards, threatening the stability of nearby businesses’ power supply. A 34-year-old Asian man, the main suspect involved, appeared in Manresa Court on March 3rd and is currently facing charges of electricity theft.
