Malaysian police confiscate 41 illegal mining machines within three days

Malaysian law enforcement recently launched a series of large-scale raids in Perak State, targeting illegal cryptocurrency mining activities. According to publicly available police information, a total of 41 machines suspected of being used for illegal mining were confiscated, involving multiple legal violations.

Continuous Raids Seize Illegal Mining Equipment

Hilir Perak Police Chief Bakri Zainal Abidin announced that police conducted three consecutive searches in the Teluk Intan area from Friday to Saturday. The first operation on Friday evening resulted in the seizure of 24 devices; subsequent operations early Saturday morning recovered 9 and 8 devices respectively. This intensive enforcement indicates that authorities are escalating efforts to crack down on illegal mining activities.

Illegal mining operations typically consume large amounts of electricity, burdening the power grid and posing fire hazards and equipment safety risks. The illegal use of such devices has become a key issue requiring focused regulation in multiple regions.

Suspected Violations of Multiple Laws Under Investigation

Police stated that the case involves violations of Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 37 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990. These laws mainly regulate unauthorized electricity use and illegal equipment operation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case is still under investigation and evidence collection.

This operation demonstrates Malaysia’s zero-tolerance stance toward illegal mining activities, and more law enforcement actions against such violations may follow in the future.
