NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress: Concerns over gaming business growth prospects amid graphics memory shortage
IT House, March 2 — According to Insider Gaming, NVIDIA’s Chief Financial Officer has cast uncertainty over the company’s growth prospects in the gaming division amid current GPU memory shortages.
Currently, NVIDIA’s fiscal year 2026 Q4 financial report shows record-breaking performance. However, as the company shifts its focus significantly toward artificial intelligence and data center businesses, and no longer relies primarily on gaming revenue, external doubts have arisen about whether this segment can continue to grow year-over-year in the next fiscal year.
During the investor call following the quarterly earnings release, NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress was directly asked whether she expects the gaming business to maintain year-over-year growth in the upcoming fiscal year.
She responded that, although the company very much hopes to secure more GPU memory supplies, supply is expected to remain tight over the next few quarters. Therefore, it is still too early to assess growth prospects.
She stated, “We believe GPU memory supply will be very tight over the next few quarters. If conditions improve by the end of the year, we will have the opportunity to evaluate from a year-over-year growth perspective, but for now, it remains uncertain. We will update everyone as soon as possible.”
IT House notes that recent reports suggest NVIDIA will not release new graphics cards this year. This is not due to a deliberate focus on AI chips and data center businesses but is affected by the GPU memory shortage. Additionally, due to the shortage, NVIDIA plans to cut production of the current RTX 50 series graphics cards.
