New Year’s Eve flowers are in high demand, with over 16.1 million fresh flower-related businesses currently operating nationwide
During the recent Spring Festival, New Year flower markets became a new consumption hotspot. In places like Dounan Flower Market in Yunnan, Gubei Flower World in Shanghai, and Hongxing Flower Market in Changsha, flower transactions were lively, with popular and niche flowers such as Phalaenopsis and holly favored. Data shows that the daily transaction volume of fresh cut flowers at Dounan Flower Market exceeded 100 million stems, and market enthusiasm continues to rise.
Flower consumption is showing new trends of diversification, immediacy, and self-enjoyment. Urban young people prefer “lazy flowers,” and experiential consumption is growing. Instant e-commerce makes flower shopping more convenient, with “buying vegetables and a bouquet” becoming a new habit. Meanwhile, consumers are placing greater emphasis on self-enjoyment experiences, with flower shops creating photo spots to enhance aesthetic appeal.
To activate the "flower + " diversified formats, merchants are optimizing services, providing maintenance guidance, and lowering care barriers. Cities like Shanghai and Changsha are exploring cross-industry “flower +” formats, deepening cultural connotations, integrating flowers into catering and wedding industries, and building immersive consumer ecosystems to promote high-quality development of the floral industry.
According to Tianyancha Professional Edition, as of now, there are over 16.105 million existing and active flower-related companies in China. Among them, approximately 451,000 new related companies have been registered in 2026. Looking at the trend in company registrations over the past five years, the number of flower-related enterprises has been increasing year by year, reaching a peak in 2025.
Regionally, Hubei Province and Guangdong Province lead in the number of flower-related companies, with over 1.692 million and 1.407 million respectively. Following are Hunan Province, Hainan Province, and Henan Province.
