The 2026 Government Work Report proposes supporting qualified localities to promote spring and autumn holidays for primary and secondary school students. As the spring semester begins, many regions are gradually announcing their spring break schedules for 2026. Chengdu, Nanjing, Suzhou, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Leshan, Meishan, Shaoxing, and other places have officially announced their spring break dates, taking the lead in implementing relevant policies. The spring break is scheduled from April 1 to 3, coinciding with the Qingming Festival. Students in these areas will be the first to enjoy the spring holiday.

The combined spring and Qingming holiday creates a 6-day long break, encouraging more travel. Data from Qunar shows that as of March 4, flight bookings from Chengdu for April 1-6 have surged 1.5 times compared to last year, with a 28% increase week-over-week. Chengdu has also become one of the fastest-growing departure cities on the Qunar platform.

During the spring break, the most popular flight destinations departing from Chengdu are Shanghai, Beijing, Sanya, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Zhuhai, Qingdao, Wuhan, Haikou, and Jieyang. Among these destinations, Beihai and Shangrao experienced the fastest growth, increasing by dozens of times; Lijiang, Jieyang, Nanchang, Wuhan, and Wuxi all saw more than fivefold growth. After the reopening of borders, Sanya and Haikou in Hainan are expected to welcome more family travelers from Chengdu, with year-over-year increases of 5 times and 3 times, respectively.

Additionally, departing from Nanjing, flight bookings during the 2026 spring break increased by 85% year-over-year. The top 10 popular destinations include Guangzhou, Sanya, Jieyang, Kunming, Haikou, Guiyang, Xi’an, Xiamen, Nanning, and Shenzhen.
