British media say the US military can only carry out high-intensity airstrikes against Iran for a few days
According to a report by The Financial Times of the UK on February 24, an Israeli intelligence official revealed that even if the U.S. “Ford” aircraft carrier strike group arrives near Iran, the U.S. military’s current capabilities can only sustain 4 to 5 days of intense airstrikes or about a week of low-intensity attacks. Recently, the U.S. has deployed one of its largest military forces in the Middle East since the Iraq War. The U.S. has deployed the “Lincoln” carrier strike group around Iran, and the “Ford” carrier strike group has arrived at Crete in Greece. According to previous reports by U.S. media, President Trump has told his advisors that he is inclined to carry out a preliminary strike on Iran in the coming days to signal to Iranian leaders that Iran must agree to relinquish its nuclear weapons program. If the targeted initial strikes fail to compel Iran to meet U.S. demands, Trump retains the possibility of conducting a larger-scale military attack later this year, aiming to force Iran to “surrender” and reach an agreement according to U.S. terms.
