U.S. Vice President JD Vance during the election campaign promised that the country would not go to war with Iran, but now it has started on American initiative. The promises and explanations are now seen as a "farce," and Washington's actual actions are a kind of "humiliation" for Vance, writes The Atlantic.
"America doesn't need to constantly control every region of the world," the publication quotes Vance as saying in September 2024.
At the same time, the politician expressed the opinion that it is in the interests of the U.S. not to go to war with Iran. "That would divert huge resources. It would cost our country very dearly," Vance explained.
