Gelonghui March 11 | On March 10th local time, Forbes released the 40th annual list of the World’s Billionaires. This year, 3,428 individuals made the list, an increase of 400 from last year, setting a new high since the list was established in 1987. The total wealth of global billionaires reached $20.1 trillion (approximately 139.05 trillion RMB), with 20 individuals worldwide surpassing the $10 billion mark.
Elon Musk is the world’s richest person for the second consecutive year, also setting a record for the highest wealth ever recorded, with a net worth of about $839 billion (approximately 5.8 trillion RMB). Driven by Tesla’s stock price increase and SpaceX’s plan to go public in 2026, Musk’s wealth has increased by about $500 billion in one year, becoming the first person in history to surpass $800 billion in wealth.
The United States continues to have the highest number of billionaires, with 989 individuals, totaling $8.4 trillion in wealth. Mainland China ranks second with 539 people, and India ranks third with 229.
