FUNDING | Nigerian Stablecoin Fintech, Kredete, Raises $22 Million Series A After Crossing 700K Users and $500 Million+ in Remittances
Kredete, a fintech company helping African immigrants build credit and access financial services, has secured $22 million in Series A funding.
The round was led by:
with participation from:
This brings Kredete’s total funding to $24.75 million and will support the company’s expansion into Canada, the UK, and key European markets.
Founded in 2023 by serial entrepreneur Adeola Adedewe, Kredete combines stablecoin-powered remittances with a proprietary credit-building engine, allowing users to send money to over 30 African countries while improving their credit histories in the U.S. and beyond. The company has also built API-driven payment infrastructure that enables businesses to make secure, affordable cross-border payouts into Africa, leveraging modern payment rails and stablecoin technology.
As it scales, Kredete is introducing new features tailored to thin-file and no-file immigrants who are typically excluded from traditional credit systems. These include:
At the center of this expansion is Africa’s first stablecoin-backed credit card, set to launch across 41+ African countries. The card will enable seamless spending, credit-building, and reduced foreign exchange costs.
To complement this, Kredete is rolling out interest-bearing USD and EUR accounts, helping Africans preserve value, earn yield, and hedge against currency volatility. On the infrastructure side, the company is creating Africa’s largest aggregation layer of banks and wallets, offering businesses a single API for secure, real-time, and low-cost payouts into the continent.
“Our vision is simple: if you support your family financially, that should count toward your creditworthiness,” said Adeola Adedewe, Founder & CEO of Kredete.
“We’re building a system that rewards financial responsibility across borders. This raise is about scaling that infrastructure globally — and ensuring millions of Africans abroad are finally seen, scored, and served.”
Investors underscored Kredete’s unique position in the ecosystem.
Khaled Ben Jilani, Senior Partner at AfricInvest, noted:
“It is one of those extremely rare start-ups that has managed to solve several problems at once — for African consumer clients as well as for large payment operators.”

Lewam Kefela, Principal at Partech, added:
“Adeola and his team are driving transformative innovation in remittance and cross-border payments.
We are excited about how their work is unlocking better services for the African diaspora and the wider ecosystem.”
Kredete’s mission aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10). Since its launch, the company has:
With this latest funding, Kredete is cementing its role as a bridge between global finance and African communities worldwide.
