Trump welcomes Iran's participation in the US World Cup
CoinWorld News reports that on March 11, Trump told FIFA that Iran is welcome to participate in this year’s U.S. World Cup. Last night, Trump had a conversation in the Oval Office with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and White House FIFA Task Force Executive Director Andrew Giuliani. Trump seemed to forget his previous remark, “I really don’t care if Iran participates in the World Cup,” and instead changed his tone to welcome Iran. The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with the opening match on June 11 and the final on July 19, lasting a total of 39 days. Iran is expected to face New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15, followed by a match against Belgium on June 21. According to PolyBeats monitoring, currently on the prediction market Polymarket, the top favorite to win the 2026 World Cup is Spain with a 15% chance, followed by England, Argentina, and France.
