Switzerland plans to hold a referendum on population restriction measures

Switzerland will hold a national referendum in June on a proposal to limit population numbers, to decide whether to implement control measures once the total population reaches 10 million. The Swiss People’s Party believes that the current “population explosion” is putting pressure on public services and infrastructure, and driving up rent prices. This proposal aims to protect the environment, natural resources, infrastructure, and social safety nets from the pressures of population growth.
