NIO Earnings: NIO Stock Pops after Record Sales Deliver First Quarterly Profit
Shares of NIO Inc. NIO +15.38% ▲ jumped over 7% in pre-market trading on Tuesday after the EV maker reported its first-ever quarterly net profit, driven by record sales and improving margins. The company posted a net profit of RMB122.4 million ($17.7 million) for Q4, a sharp turnaround from a net loss of RMB7.13 billion a year earlier. Lower research and development (R&D) costs helped boost margins. In Q4, R&D expenses fell to RMB 2.03 billion, down 44.3% year over year and 15.3% from the previous quarter.

NIO Achieves Record Vehicle Deliveries in Q4
NIO delivered 124,807 vehicles in Q4 2025, a record high and a 71.7% increase from a year ago. The company also shipped 48,135 vehicles in December alone, the highest monthly total in its history. Of the total deliveries, 67,433 vehicles came from the NIO brand, 38,290 from ONVO, and 19,084 from FIREFLY, with each brand reaching a record high.
The company continued its positive trend from the previous quarter after a period of weak or slow sales. Below is a screenshot showing NIO’s vehicle deliveries over the last few quarters.
Overall, its Q4 revenue jumped 76% year over year to RMB34.65 billion. Sales in late 2025 were boosted by buyers rushing to lock in EV incentives before policy changes.
NIO’s Outlook
Looking ahead, NIO expects first-quarter 2026 revenue to range between RMB24.48 billion and RMB25.18 billion, above the RMB23.3 billion consensus estimate.
The company also forecasts vehicle deliveries of 80,000 to 83,000 units in Q1, implying year-over-year growth of about 90% to 97%.
