Abstract generation in progress

Revolut has been in the mobilisation stage for over 18 months after being granted approval for the licence last July.

The long wait to achieve the licence followed intense regulatory scrutiny about the firm’s ability to keep pace with compliance issues as it scaled its operations in other markets.

Moving on, the full licence means the company can formally start lending to customers in the UK.

Revolut chief Nik Storonsky, remarks: “Launching our UK bank has been a long-term strategic priority for Revolut, and marks a significant moment in our journey. The UK is our home market and central to our growth.”

The next big goal for revolut is to crack the US market, after the firm last week lodged an application with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for US banking charter.
