Abstract generation in progress

The Commerce, Tourism and Sports Bureau stated on social media that in the first two months of this year, the total number of visitors to Hong Kong reached 9.95 million. Hong Kong’s cruise industry also continues to improve, with 189 cruise voyages and over 630,000 cruise passengers recorded last year. In the first two months of this year, Hong Kong has hosted a total of 52 cruise voyages, with more than 180,000 cruise passengers in total.

The bureau said that cruise travelers participating in shore excursions and special activities especially boost the local retail and dining industries’ economic benefits. Expenses related to cruises in Hong Kong, such as transportation arrangements for passengers, cruise supplies, dockside berthing, hiring ground staff, and onshore spending by crew members on leave, all contribute continuous momentum to Hong Kong’s economy.

The bureau will continue working with the industry to promote the vigorous development of Hong Kong’s cruise tourism.
