China and US Launch a New Round of Economic and Trade Negotiations in Paris

The China-U.S. economic and trade teams have begun a new round of trade negotiations in Paris, France. Reports indicate that the two sides met at the headquarters of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.

The meeting was jointly hosted by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, with U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai also in attendance. It is expected that the discussions will focus on U.S. tariff adjustments, China’s rare earth minerals and magnets exports to the U.S., U.S. high-tech export controls, and China’s purchase of American agricultural products.
