Follow AWE to explore new trends in home design! "Good houses" aren't about steel and concrete; they compete on technology and warmth.
Stepping beyond the physical definition of reinforced concrete, the quality and warmth of a “good house” are crafted within a small space. From kitchens, bathrooms, sofas to beds, join the reporter from International Finance News to explore new trends in home furnishings at AWE.
This year, the government work report mentions that by 2026, the construction of “orderly promoted safe, comfortable, green, and intelligent ‘good houses’” will be advanced. Under this direction, downstream real estate companies are gearing up—focusing on R&D, technology, and upgrading living experiences—allowing the concept of a “good house” to transcend the physical boundaries of reinforced concrete, shaping quality and warmth within small spaces.
From March 12 to 15, the 2026 China Appliance and Consumer Electronics Expo (AWE) was held in Shanghai, attracting numerous smart home companies. Many cutting-edge products debuted, deeply integrating AI technology into home scenarios such as kitchens, bathrooms, mattresses, and sofas.
A New Era for Kitchens and Bathrooms
This year’s AWE reveals a trend: in the era of quality residences, kitchens are being redefined. Xu Tao, Vice President of the Institute of Building Standard Design and Application Technology at the China Academy of Building Research, pointed out that a good kitchen standard is an important supplement to the “good house” standard, addressing the “last mile” of daily life.
Robam Appliances showcased several new products for the first time, including the world’s first mural-style range hood S2U, ultra-slim fully concealed range hood 78-i7, AI kitchen air steward, the world’s first AI cooking glasses, and the world’s first AI fully automatic steaming and roasting integrated machine.
According to reports, the company’s AI cooking glasses are equipped with Robam’s self-developed AI large model “Shishen” for culinary applications. They can recognize ingredients and steps needed for cooking through the lens, helping users reduce doubts during cooking; they can also connect with Robam’s full set of AI digital kitchen appliances, coordinating range hoods, stoves, steam ovens, and more to complete the entire cooking process from preparation to serving.
He Yadong, Vice President and Director of Robam Appliances, stated that over the past decade, the company has created value through collaborations with developers, capturing nearly 50% market share. The new decade, centered on “good houses,” has raised new demands for kitchens among ordinary people. “We need to work even harder.”
Recently, Robam’s team visited 317 new residential projects in first-tier cities, discovering a profound transformation: the ratio of kitchen to living room space has shifted from 1:2 to 1:1; open kitchens now account for 56.4%, and in units over 160 square meters, the proportion reaches 70.7%. Kitchens are evolving from mere cooking backends to the core family living space.
Based on this insight, Robam distilled the concept of “New Five Senses of Kitchen Living”—luxury, composure, safety, companionship, and satisfaction—and translated these into tangible spatial language. Meanwhile, the company is also shifting its strategy from a traditional kitchen appliance supplier to a “partner in industrial value,” providing systematic solutions for real estate developers.
As the only bathroom brand present, Huida Sanitary Ware showcased its full-scenario intelligent bathroom solutions at AWE, demonstrating its transformation from a traditional manufacturer to a provider of smart, healthy bathroom space solutions.
Among its core smart toilet series, the “Deep Shield” features full waterway sterilization technology, using intelligent sensors and automatic disinfection to protect every water route from source to spray head. The “Little Rose Ultra,” designed specifically for female consumers, includes the安心妇洗 system, full-area sensor seat, air purification, and multiple comfort modes, offering a more considerate user experience.
To turn abstract smart technology into perceptible experiences, Huida set up three major interactive devices at the booth. For example, “Water Flow Symphony” allows visitors to feel the subtle differences of various flushing modes by adjusting water pressure; “Pure Source” uses gamification to visually demonstrate the intelligent monitoring behind full waterway sterilization technology.
According to Wang Jia, President of Huida Sanitary Ware, when AI technology enters the bathroom space, it should act as an invisible but understanding housekeeper for consumers, rather than a cold control panel.
At the exhibition, Huida expressed its determination to break through the stock market. It launched the “Quick Renovation for Kitchens and Bathrooms” strategy, targeting common issues in old community renovations such as long construction cycles, severe disturbances, and leakage risks, with its “Fast-Install Magic Box” bathroom renovation solution.
This plan includes two systems—no-dismantle and full-dismantle—catering to different renovation needs, achieving renovation speeds of as fast as 2-3 days and up to 7 days. Currently, this model has been piloted successfully; a community store in Beijing with 49 square meters has an annual turnover of nearly 3 million yuan.
By 2026, Huida aims to establish a deep presence in 300 offline outlets nationwide, leading the old renovation market into a “fast-forward era.”
Sofas and Beds for a Better Experience
Function zones are being upgraded, and rest areas must keep pace. How to sleep peacefully and comfortably has become a key focus for mattress and sofa companies. During the visit, the International Finance News reporter noticed that, unlike the bustling tech exhibition halls, these areas exuded relaxation—visitors lounged or sat, personally experiencing product performance.
Making its debut at AWE, Mousse is the only home furnishing brand with dual exhibition booths. It deeply integrated with Huawei HarmonyOS, launching a joint new product—the HarmonyOS Mousse Smart Bed Pro H-Design. Thanks to ecological innovation and flagship product strength, this product became a highlight in the smart sleep category, winning the 2026 AWE iPland Innovation Award on its first appearance.
According to information, the HarmonyOS Mousse Smart Bed Pro H-Design features the “Star Spark” digital base, enabling millisecond response times and stable connection within 35 meters even without internet. It is equipped with Mousse’s tidal algorithm 2.0, a medical-grade sensor that leverages extensive medical research resources to precisely detect subtle changes in heart rate and respiration in milliseconds.
Overall, combining “support adjustment algorithms,” “sleep report algorithms,” and “real-time sleep staging” technology, the product offers functions such as soft and hard adjustments, sleep monitoring, and sleep reports, creating a domestically pioneering tidal algorithm in the soft industry, truly achieving “a thousand beds for a thousand people.”
Mousse states that its deep collaboration with Huawei HarmonyOS ecosystem aims to upgrade smart beds from single smart products to the core hub of a smart bedroom, breaking scene barriers of traditional smart products and solving the long-standing “device island” problem in smart homes, enabling seamless integration of sleep, lighting, temperature, humidity, fresh air, and audio-visual systems.
Similarly, AI smart sofa pioneer Smarter (referred to as “Shuman De”) also won awards. At this exhibition, Shuman De showcased two core technologies and six innovative features, thoroughly breaking the functional limitations of traditional sofas and redefining the smart sofa experience.
According to staff, Shuman De’s core technologies include AI adaptive support and physical adaptive support. The former relies on multi-point sensor matrices and BMI (Body Mass Index) to monitor lumbar pressure in real time, dynamically adjusting airbag inflation via AI algorithms for “instant understanding and precise fit”; the latter uses a floating spring support system, breaking traditional frameworks, evenly dispersing weight when seated, significantly reducing hip pressure, and solving issues like numbness and thigh fatigue after long sitting.
Building on this, Shuman De also introduces six innovative technologies: iRester intelligent massage (10-point massage + 5 master techniques), zero-gravity floating posture (dispersing body pressure), breathing ventilation system (6 temperature modes), graphene heating (95% electrical conversion efficiency + far-infrared health), voice control (full-function voice interaction), and physical adaptive floating support (pressure relief during long sitting), creating a comprehensive scene-based technological moat from comfort and health to interactivity.
Danish-origin sleep brand TEMPUR, with NASA space technology genes, showcased its core product—the TEMPUR Smart Sleep System. This system integrates NASA-derived temperature-sensitive materials and cutting-edge digital technology to build an entire chain of intelligent sleep ecology from falling asleep to deep sleep.
It is not a single product but a comprehensive solution composed of an intelligent bed, smart mattress, and smart pillow, capable of real-time physiological monitoring of heart rate, respiration, and movement through unobtrusive sensors, generating personalized sleep reports and automatically intervening when necessary—such as gently adjusting sleep posture upon detecting snoring or guiding relaxation during light sleep via micro-vibrations.
Beyond the main product display, the TEMPUR booth also showcased the TEMPUR series, TEMPUR Living series, pillows, and accessories, forming a complete product matrix. The TEMPUR Living series, a key achievement in the brand’s localization strategy in China, is fully tailored to Chinese consumers’ preferences for sleep feel and habits, representing deep localization efforts.
It is understood that TEMPUR has participated in the China International Import Expo for three consecutive years and made its first appearance at AWE this year, reflecting the brand’s long-term confidence and ongoing investment in the Chinese market.
