Cross-sector Integration, “Finance + Reading” Resounds with Strong Promotion
On February 1, 2026, the “Regulations on Promoting National Reading” officially took effect. The Shanghai Branch of China Merchants Bank innovatively launched the themed activity “Smart Reading Finance, Peace of Mind Together—Financial Education Promotion Book Club,” using a literary culture as the carrier and financial knowledge as the core. Through warm-hearted service, it practices the original intention of serving the people with finance. This innovative approach not only effectively enhances consumers’ financial literacy and helps build a solid defense for property safety but also injects positive energy into creating a clean and orderly financial market environment through cultural immersion, becoming a successful practice in financial education and promotion.
Party Leadership, Co-construction and Integration Demonstrate Responsibility
Party leadership is a distinctive feature of the bank’s financial consumer protection work. The branch insists on deeply integrating financial knowledge education and publicity with party-building efforts. It has established a volunteer service team for financial education and promotion, with party member professionals taking the lead as main team members, proactively engaging with enterprises, commercial districts, schools, and rural areas to promote financial knowledge.
During the activities, party members wear party badges, showcase their identity, set an example, and set up consultation desks on-site to answer questions face-to-face with the public and provide attentive, one-on-one services. Meanwhile, the branch actively collaborates with city cultural landmarks, such as the Huangpu District Library, to carry out joint development activities, promoting the organic connection of party-building services, cultural reading, and financial knowledge dissemination. This makes the financial education and promotion activities led by party-building warmer and more powerful, actively safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of financial consumers.
Literary Atmosphere and Multi-dimensional Interaction Empower Financial Education
The Shanghai Branch integrates financial education and promotion into the reading club activities at the Huangpu District Library, breaking through traditional lecture formats and shifting from unidirectional “knowledge infusion” to interactive “thought-provoking” engagement.
In the jointly organized “Smart Reading Finance, Peace of Mind Together—Financial Education Promotion Book Club,” the branch carefully selects chapters related to consumer safety and rights protection from financial knowledge books, with volunteers and readers reading together. Interactive segments like financial knowledge Q&A, one-on-one consultation, and themed check-in zones are set up to answer consumer questions about rights protection and risk identification, further strengthening financial literacy through interaction. At the end, financial knowledge booklets are distributed to consumers, allowing financial knowledge to accompany the fragrance of books into thousands of households.
Urban and Rural Coverage, Outreach to Expand the Promotion Radius
To broaden the coverage and improve the precision of financial education and promotion, the branch has established a three-dimensional promotion pattern of “Main Venue at the Library + Branch Outreach + Rural Multi-point Extension,” ensuring financial knowledge flows from cultural landmarks to branch sites and from urban areas to rural villages. During the “3.15” campaign, 59 financial education and promotion book club activities were held, covering 32 communities and 27 villages in Shanghai, transforming these into accessible financial knowledge classrooms for the public. Considering the needs of rural areas in financial risk prevention, the branch formed dedicated volunteer teams and small groups for financial education promotion, who went deep into rural communities and fields, focusing on themes like rural scams, pension fraud, and rational consumption. They used dialects, case analysis, and interactive Q&A to deliver financial knowledge directly to villagers’ doorsteps.
In the future, the Shanghai Branch of China Merchants Bank will continue to deepen financial knowledge education and promotion efforts, using the power of books to integrate financial education into financial services, continuously improving the quality and effectiveness of protecting financial consumers’ rights and interests.
