Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on the 14th, stating that they carried out targeted strikes on Tehran, Iran’s capital, killing two senior officials from Iran’s intelligence agency. The IDF said that Abdullah Jallali-Nasab and Amir Shariat, senior officials from the Hatham Anbia emergency command of Iran’s armed forces’ intelligence department, were killed. In the first round of joint strikes by the US and Israel against Iran, the head of the command’s intelligence department, Saleh Asadi, was killed, and Jallali-Nasab and Shariat later took over. The IDF said that these two are “key figures” in Iran’s intelligence community and that both have close ties to Iran’s ruling leadership. The IDF stated that the intelligence department of Hatham Anbia’s emergency command handles intelligence analysis, and that senior officials in Iran’s security system receive this intelligence during threat assessments, which they then use as a basis to launch attacks on Israel. The IDF claimed to have killed dozens of senior Iranian officials, “severely damaging” Iran’s command and control system and its operational coordination capabilities. (Xinhua)
