3·15 Evening Gala Exposes "Bleached Chicken Feet"! Hydrogen Peroxide Suppliers Illegally Selling, Evading Regulation Through Label Switching!
Cao Chen and Zeng Jian
Follow the content exposed on CCTV’s “3.15” evening show: unscrupulous “bleached chicken claws,” production workshops that are disgusting, and these chicken claws are bleached with hydrogen peroxide. One of the exposed hydrogen peroxide suppliers is a subsidiary of a listed company, which had revenue exceeding 50 million yuan in 2023.
According to CCTV Finance, reporters from the “3.15” evening show investigated the popular chicken claw sales in Sichuan and Chongqing areas.
At the scene, reporters saw that the food processing workshop was filled with foul odors in the soaking, trimming, and sorting areas, with a nauseating fishy smell. The production environment was filthy and chaotic: murky wastewater had accumulated on the floor for a long time, various plastic baskets were randomly piled up, and the surfaces of machinery and equipment were covered with heavy stains and grease. In this workshop, a large number of chicken claws were directly piled on the damp, dirty floor, with cleaning tools like brooms and shovels casually placed on top of the claws; even if the claws were stepped on, workers simply picked them up and put them back into the processing baskets for continued use, completely ignoring food hygiene and safety.
As the investigation deepened, a key piece of information was uncovered—despite the dirty environment, the final chicken claws looked clean and appealing, all because the factory performed a crucial “bleaching” process. Staff admitted, “They are bleached with hydrogen peroxide.”
Hydrogen peroxide, scientifically known as peroxide, is a strong oxidizer and disinfectant often used for sterilization. According to national regulations, hydrogen peroxide must not be used in chicken claw processing. This chemical first destroys nutrients like proteins in food, and long-term consumption of foods soaked in it can cause damage to the oral mucosa, liver and kidney functions, and other health hazards. Excessive intake can even be life-threatening.
E company reporters found that the supplier of the unscrupulous “bleached chicken claws” hydrogen peroxide had revenue exceeding 50 million yuan in 2023.
According to CCTV’s “3.15” expose, Chengdu Mingyang Food processed chicken claws for Shufu Xiang Food Co., Ltd., in a filthy and chaotic environment, using hydrogen peroxide bleaching, which is explicitly banned by national regulations. Zengqiao Food Co., Ltd. in Chongqing was also found to have used hydrogen peroxide to bleach chicken claws. Upstream, Jinshan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Henan Yifeng Electronic New Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Yifeng Electronic”) illegally sold hydrogen peroxide and even re-labeled products to evade regulation.
According to Qichacha, Yifeng Electronic was established in March 2017 with a registered capital of 50 million yuan. In terms of ownership, Yifeng Electronic is held 54% by Duofuduoduo (002407), with Henan Xingtu Enterprise Management Consulting Partnership (Limited Partnership), Sun Xiaofeng, Henan Jufuxing New Materials, and Cui Shebao holding 25.60%, 14.40%, 4%, and 2%, respectively.
Yifeng Electronic is a technology enterprise engaged in R&D, production, and sales of ultra-pure chemical reagents, electronic chemicals, specialized cleaning agents, disinfectants, and food additives. Its products include food-grade hydrogen peroxide (i.e., hydrogen peroxide), electronic-grade hydrogen peroxide, and cleaning agents for the food industry.
Earlier, Duofuduoduo announced in January 2025 that the board approved the acquisition of a 54% stake in Yifeng Electronic held by Jiaozuo Duofuduoduo Industrial Group, with a purchase price of 28.45 million yuan using the company’s own funds. The transaction was completed and registered with the authorities on January 23 of the same year.
According to Duofuduoduo’s announcement, Yifeng Electronic’s revenue in 2023 was 53.98 million yuan, with a net profit of 295,600 yuan. As of October 31, 2024, the company’s total assets were 64.81 million yuan, and net assets were 40.04 million yuan. From January to October 2024, revenue was 36.26 million yuan, with a net loss of 180,100 yuan.
On the evening of March 15, reporters attempted to contact Sun Xiaofeng, general manager and legal representative of Yifeng Electronic, by phone. The call rang once before being disconnected and then reported as busy.
