Hellobike Responds to 315 Exposure Issues: There Are Loopholes in Review Mechanisms or Management, Will Deeply Reflect and Resolutely Rectify
On the evening of March 15, in response to the CCTV 3.15 expose of Hello Electric Scooter Rental stores offering overspeed modified electric bikes, Hello issued an apology statement, stating that the platform attaches great importance and has immediately launched a special investigation.
The statement said that Hello Electric Scooter Rental operates on a platform model, providing information matching services for users and merchants. Hello’s scooter rental platform has never directly operated offline stores; all vehicles at platform stores are purchased and operated by participating merchants themselves. Hello Rental has never authorized any stores to directly use the Hello brand for related rental services offline. We reserve the right to further pursue legal responsibility for the actions of these stores. According to the merchant agreement, merchants must ensure that the vehicles provided on the platform comply with the national safety technical standards for electric bicycles. Hello continuously reminds merchants through the merchant app, conducts spot checks at stores, and requires merchants to ensure that rented vehicles meet current national laws and standards, do not undergo illegal modifications, and regularly self-inspect and rectify their vehicles.
“The content of the CCTV 3.15 evening program indicates that there are gaps in our review mechanisms or management. We will take this incident as a warning, conduct deep reflection, resolutely rectify, and respond to users’ trust with concrete actions. We thank the media and society for their supervision, and we will promptly disclose subsequent developments.”
On the evening of March 15, CCTV’s 3.15 evening program exposed violations of speed limits by electric bicycles, and Hello Scooter Rental was named.
According to CCTV, Hello Scooter Rental currently has over 5,000 stores in more than 100 cities nationwide. Staff at Hello rental stores stated that their electric bikes can reach speeds of up to 75 km/h. Public information shows that the latest national safety technical standards for electric bicycles, implemented in 2025, clearly specify that the maximum design speed should not exceed 25 km/h, the battery pack’s marked voltage should not exceed 48 volts, and the motor’s output power should be less than or equal to 400 watts.
