Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 8 — Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi introduced China’s diplomatic services for national development at the two sessions press conference.

Wang Yi stated, "The 14th Five-Year Plan is China’s new blueprint for development and a new vision for win-win cooperation with the world. This year marks the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the diplomatic front will actively coordinate diplomatic resources to create a more favorable external environment for high-quality development and the modernization of China. Focus will be placed on three areas:

First, continue to serve as a promoter of high-level opening-up. We will promote high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative through high-level exchanges and major diplomatic agendas, expand the network of high-standard free trade zones, maintain stable and smooth supply chains, and strive for a fair, open, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies to go global.

Second, continue to expand fast lanes for personnel exchanges. We have implemented unilateral visa exemptions for 50 countries and full visa waivers with 29 countries. Last year, 73% of inbound foreign visitors entered visa-free. Next, we will continue to optimize policies for personnel exchanges, further release visa-free benefits, improve supporting services, and make travel and living in China more convenient and comfortable for foreign friends, while ensuring that Chinese citizens go abroad more smoothly and safely.

Third, continue to create new windows for open and integrated development. We will innovate and upgrade the “Diplomatic Missions’ Local Visits” activity, accelerate the building of the “Diplomatic Service ‘14th Five-Year’ High-Quality Development Information Platform,” assist localities in connecting with international resources, exchanging governance experiences, and expanding external cooperation, so that diplomacy can better empower local development.
