MuXi Co., Ltd. has been rooted in Shanghai since its founding. Shanghai Pudong is a “leading zone” responsible for national strategies. We started here, and the spirit of “bold experimentation, bold innovation” has long been integrated into our entire team’s DNA.

MuXi founder, Chairman, and CEO Chen Weiliang told The Paper that MuXi felt the passionate drive of China’s development and innovation journey in Shanghai.

MuXi was established in September 2020. The company’s vision is to create world-class GPU chips and computing platforms, becoming the cornerstone of digital economy computing power. MuXi officially listed on the STAR Market on December 17, 2025. To date, MuXi is one of the few domestic companies capable of developing, designing, and mass-producing high-performance GPU chips and full-stack independent foundational system software.

Shanghai provides full-cycle support, and MuXi deeply integrates into Shanghai’s ecosystem

On the eve of the 2026 Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference, Chen Weiliang shared his experience of settling in Shanghai during an interview. He said Shanghai has provided support in policies, scenarios, and industrial collaboration. This includes leveraging rich AI application scenarios to accelerate innovation results, and flexible talent policies that make the team feel at ease, like “home sweet home.”

“This full-cycle support from lab to application, from single point to ecosystem, reflects Shanghai’s vision and responsibility,” Chen Weiliang said. These measures have helped MuXi pursue its “Chinese chip” dream with a solid and warm foundation.

He also emphasized that Shanghai’s AI industry collaboration is highly efficient. Especially around Zhangjiang, many downstream companies are gathered, which greatly improves the coordination and efficiency of the industry chain, leaving a deep impression on him.

Previously, Chen Weiliang mentioned in an exchange that Pudong always adopts a “contributing without seeking credit” strategic mindset, accompanying MuXi through a long R&D journey. He also noted that early 2024 was quite challenging for the company’s development, but Pudong’s venture capital invested strategically in MuXi with a scale of up to 500 million RMB.

Of course, MuXi also deeply integrates into Shanghai’s industrial ecosystem and drives the entire industry chain’s development. Chen Weiliang explained that MuXi integrates into Shanghai’s ecosystem through three aspects:

First, coordinating with upstream and downstream partners to improve an independent and controllable computing power industry chain. In July 2025, MuXi launched the Xiyun C600, a new generation flagship product based entirely on its own core GPU IP, completing the full domestic supply chain from chip design and manufacturing to packaging and testing.

Second, expanding ecosystem openness and deepening cooperation with Shanghai’s universities, research institutes, and industry enterprises. MuXi’s self-developed MXMACA software stack was open-sourced last February, and now has over 250,000 users. Long-term, MuXi aims to build a self-controlled domestic computing power foundation, with open-source ecosystem co-creation being key to unlocking computing power value.

Third, focusing on the “1+6+X” ecosystem layout, deeply empowering key industries such as finance, healthcare, energy, scientific research, transportation, and entertainment with autonomous GPU computing power, contributing to digital transformation. For example, MuXi collaborated with Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory to develop the trillion-parameter scientific multimodal large model Intern-S1-Pro, utilizing model acceleration operator adaptation. Just before this year’s Spring Festival, Intern-S1-Pro was open-sourced. It is the largest scientific model by parameter scale in the global open-source community, with performance ranking among the top worldwide.

Chen Weiliang said that only by working shoulder-to-shoulder and closely collaborating with industry peers can they build a solid foundation of autonomous computing power.

Main investment directions for the next few years are R&D, ecosystem, and scene implementation

After successfully listing on the STAR Market late last year, MuXi has secured more ample funding. Chen Weiliang stated that the main investment focus in the coming years will still be on product R&D, ecosystem construction, and scene deployment.

He revealed that MuXi’s product R&D includes the current generation on sale, the next-generation in development, and pre-research projects for future innovative products.

At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Shanghai last year, MuXi launched its latest domestically produced general GPU flagship, Xiyun C600. Chen Weiliang said the Xiyun C600 series was delivered for chip fabrication in October 2024, returned for testing in July 2025, and successfully lit up. Once mass-produced, it will complement the Xiyun C500 series. Mass production is progressing as planned.

In terms of ecosystem development, there are two aspects: software ecosystem, which is the GPU computing ecosystem, and industrial ecosystem, which involves AI empowering various industries. These efforts will promote large-scale AI applications across many sectors.

Focusing on super-node trends, the company emphasizes the “engineering” implementation in real application scenarios

Currently, as computing chips move from single chips to super-nodes or clustered products, Chen Weiliang said that, like the “Scaling Law” in large AI models, computing infrastructure is also moving toward clustering, scaling, and systematization. Super-nodes have broken through the simple hardware stacking of server clusters, using high-bandwidth interconnects and unified memory addressing to build integrated high-bandwidth, low-latency computing systems, representing the industry’s recognized trend toward scale.

MuXi’s high-density computing cabinet

“Super-nodes and clustered products are core components of current large model training and inference computing bases. We have several excellent products in this field,” Chen Weiliang explained. MuXi and partners developed the high-density liquid-cooled flagship product Xiyun C550 Shanghai Cube, which supports 128 liquid-cooled Xiyun C550 GPUs in a single cabinet, reducing the footprint by 70% compared to similar products, enabling rapid deployment and supporting large-scale liquid-cooled data centers efficiently.

He added that MuXi is one of the few domestic GPU suppliers to achieve large-scale commercial application of clusters with thousands of cards, possessing rare high-bandwidth, multi-card interconnection capabilities, and leading in cluster performance, flexibility, and scalability.

As large model parameters grow exponentially, single-card effective computing power cannot meet the demands of ultra-large-scale computing. High-bandwidth, low-latency interconnect technology between cards becomes a key competitive factor. Chen Weiliang introduced that their自主研发的MetaXLink高速互连技术突破了传统PCIe总线在带宽和延迟方面的限制,互连带宽性能表现优异。
