People’s Financial News, March 19 — Recently, a surge in memory prices has swept across the globe. A reporter’s investigation at the Huaqiangbei electronics market in Shenzhen found that both essential office computers and high-end gaming consoles have seen significant cost increases due to soaring memory prices. One merchant said, “The cheapest Kingston 16GB standard RAM was around 200 yuan last year in April or May. Now it’s roughly 800 yuan. 32GB memory used to cost 800 yuan, but now it might be 3,800 yuan, an increase of about 300%.” The doubling of memory prices has directly driven up the overall cost of computers. Faced with this situation, budget-conscious users are starting to be more careful with their spending and are even turning to the second-hand market for alternatives.
