According to the China Manned Space Agency, at 19:35 Beijing Time on March 16, 2026, after a 7-hour extravehicular activity, Shenzhou 21 crew members Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang worked closely together. With the support of the space station’s robotic arm and ground scientific personnel, they successfully completed tasks including the installation of space debris protection devices. Astronauts Zhang Lu and Wu Fei safely returned to the Tiangong space station’s experimental cabin, and the extravehicular activity was a complete success. Zhang Lu has conducted a total of 6 extravehicular activities, making him one of the Chinese astronauts with the most spacewalks to date.

Since the first successful extravehicular activity on December 9, 2025, the Shenzhou 21 crew has carried out equipment inspections and maintenance inside the space station, environmental monitoring, health management, and other tasks. They have also conducted rendezvous and docking, medical rescue, emergency survival training, and other on-orbit exercises. The crew’s experiments in space life sciences, human body research, microgravity physics, and new space technologies have been steadily advancing. They also celebrated the Lunar New Year aboard the station.

Currently, the three astronauts have been on orbit for over four months. According to plan, the crew will continue to perform extravehicular activities and carry out related scientific and technical experiments during the mission.
