Matador Resources Company was founded in July 2003 in Texas. The company is an independent energy company engaged in the exploration, development, production, and acquisition of oil and natural gas resources in the United States, focusing on oil and gas shale and other unconventional plays. Currently, its operations are mainly concentrated in the oil-rich portions of the Wolfcamp and Bone Spring formations in the Delaware Basin of southeastern New Mexico and West Texas.
